The Mystery Box Rally is a bucket list item for us brothers, always wanting to get involved without ever considering that there was an extended purpose in raising funds for a significant charity the Cancer Council. Our lives have been affected by cancer both within our immediate family and our wider circle of family and friends. This rally for us is not to think about any loss or effect of cancer but instead to experience life and enjoy our time with each other and the number of strangers involved. Knowing that we can enjoy ourselves, experience life and Australia is a huge win for us. Raising money for the Cancer Council just adds to the smiles we’re going to be wearing over this journey. We need to raise a minimum of $3,500 for this event, but of course hope to exceed this amount significantly. Not everyone is able to take part in an event such as this and we are exceptionally grateful that we are able. For you donation we hope to provide you a vicarious mystery journey through the eyes of a couple eastern suburbs lads driving a mock up Lighting McQueen somewhere in beautiful Australia. Teams will drive their own 25+ year old cars along a mystery route in this unique 5-day challenge, all in the name of cancer research. The route is a loop starting and finishing at the same location, but all the other details are kept under wraps, only given to the teams each morning.
The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.
